Producer, engineer, composer, musician, studio owner, educator Glenn Lorbecki began his recording career in the Midwest in the late 1970’s working in the studio with such diverse artists as the Violent Femmes, John Mellencamp, Phil Woods, Stanley Clarke, and the Rolling Stones. During this period Glenn also operated a sound and lighting company, Glenn Sound, which provided technical support for artists ranging from the Eagles, Heart, the Grateful Dead, and the Allman Brothers to Roy Orbison, Waylon Jennings, Bob Hope, Gladys Knight, and many more.
A hiatus from recording in the mid 1980’s was an opportunity for Glenn to tour the US, Europe, and South America as Musical Director/Production Manager for a theatrical production company. Highlights during this period include designing shows in Las Vegas, Reno, Atlantic City, and New York, and culminated in the live/telecast production of the awards show for Prince Rainier of the Monte Carlo Grand Prix at the Sporting Club in Monaco.
Glenn’s return to the studio yielded multi-platinum and GRAMMY nominated projects with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Kenny G, as well as TV and film projects like Emmy winning Northern Exposure, Cliffhanger, Oliver Stone’s Heaven and Earth, and many other shows. With the opening of Glenn Sound/Seattle, Lorbecki’s own multi-room recording / video post-production facility in 1995, he launched into the current phase of his career. Expanding services from music recording to include original music composition, audio and video post, sound design, and new media production has made it possible to continue building a successful career in Seattle, far from the traditional media centers of North America. Glenn has also been teaching audio production classes at the University of Washington since 1991, recently earning an excellence in teaching honor.
Collaborative efforts with MTV, Entercom, ClearChannel, CBS, PBS, ABC, and other network entities have yielded multiple features on MTV’s Real World, numerous “live” studio recordings of the top names in Alternative Rock, film scores, MOTW productions, and has made the studios of Glenn Sound a regular stop for major productions working in the Northwest. Since 1995 Glenn Sound has recorded or produced projects with Tori Amos, Third Eye Blind, the White Stripes, Garbage, Everclear, Dave Matthews, Bad Religion, Green Day, Blue Man Group, Moby, Weezer, Nine Days, Franz Ferdinand, P.J. Harvey, the GooGoo Dolls, the Foo Fighters, the Ya Ya Yas, Social Distortion, Nickelback, Oasis, Queens Of The Stone Age, the Violent Femmes, the list goes on.
Glenn Lorbecki has been performing volunteer work for the Recording Academy (the GRAMMY folks) since 1999, President of the PNW Chapter, 2001-2003, national Trustee 2003-2008, and was recently named national co-chairman of the Producers and Engineers Wing of the Academy. Glenn plays guitar and performs with several bands, including Tony Gable and 206 (Heads Up), a smooth Jazz band with two top-10 charting albums, currently working on the third. He is also a member of ASCAP, AES, AFM, and an AFTRA/SAG signator.
