Pro Tools 101 Extended: Audio basics / Introduction to Pro Tools includes a 6 hour introduction to audio recording basics - the perfect primer for students who may be unfamiliar with audio tools, concepts, and terminology. This workshop will prepare you for the concepts addressed in the Pro Tools 101 class. PT101 covers basic Pro Tools principles, giving you what you need to complete a Pro Tools project, from initial set up to final mixdown. The course has been dramatically reworked and updated for Pro Tools 9 software. Whether your project involves recording of live instruments, MIDI sequencing of software synthesizers, or audio looping, this course will give you the basic skills to succeed. An exam will be presented at the end of the class.

Topics

Audio recording basics

Two three-hour workshops designed as an introduction to the principles of audio recording, including: the physical properties of sound, basic acoustics, cables and connectors, microphones, and studio signal path. Participants will be introduced to vocabulary and concepts necessary for modern studio navigation.
